The Jets released nickel back Javelin Guidry. The move comes as a minor surprise, as Guidry played in all 17 games and started three.

Guidry recorded 48 tackles in 2021 to go along with three passes defended. He totaled 70 tackles in 28 games over two seasons with the Jets. He signed as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2020.

Guidry simply became the victim of the numbers game at the cornerback position. Michael Carter II took over as the starting nickel and D.J. Reed, Sauce Gardner, Bryce Hall and Brandin Eichols are entrenched on the outside, leaving Guidry on the outside looking in.

There’s a very good chance he will get claimed by another team on the waiver wire. Guidry can provide depth at corner and help on special teams.

Super, danke!

Around the NFL
: Russell Wilson, Broncos agree to terms on five-year, $245M contract extension

Tom Pelissero
QB Russell Wilson’s new contract gives him a $33 million raise in 2022, from $24M to $57M. He gets $85M total over two years (up from $51M he had left on his old deal) and $124M over three, while Denver locks up another four non-guaranteed years on top of it.
Every deal has unique circumstances so comparisons are tricky, but fair to say Wilson’s cash flow is well short of Aaron Rodgers ($150.8M over three) and Deshaun Watson ($138M). Kyler Murray got $106.15M over three with little leverage entering a cheap Year 4 on his rookie deal.

Listenwahn:

1. Raiders
2. Chargers
3. Broncos
4. Chiefs

Alle mit mehr Siegen als Niederlagen.
