Ganz ehrlich, ich habe es nach 2006 mit drei oder vier seiner neueren Alben versucht. Das Zeug geht gar nicht. Im Moment läuft bei mir im Büro Ocean Machine (seine Beste hinter "City", meiner Meinung nach). Im Vgl. dazu sind seine letzten Alben gar nix. Überambitionierter Quatsch

Ocean Machine istGott!!! Der Rest liegt im Auge des Betrachers....
Für mich ist Devin auf jedenfall der genialste Künstler ever!!!

Devin unter Drogen = Sehr interessante Musik, zum Teil göttlichste Großtaten wie die angeprochene Biomech
Devin ohne Drogen = Gesunder Mensch lebt in gesundem Körper, kann aber nur noch vereinzelt großartige Musikschreiben. Die Epicloud und Ghost fand ich noch gut/sehr gut, die Casualities Of Cool auch, mit viel anderem kannste mich dagegen fast schon jagen.

SYL = nicht meins. Mir zu krachig und chaotisch.

So weit würde ich zwar nicht gehen, aber ich weiß, was du meinst Devin war halt total wahnsinnig und Gene hat die komplette Welt bombardiert. Das war schon verdammt unfassbar...

Die These mit den Drogen ist nicht von der Hand zu weisen.

Die alten Lieder auf den letzten zwei Livekonserven fand ich total überzeugend. Aber das Studiowerk schwankt schon länger zwischen unhörbar und gleichförmig.

Ach ja, der HevyDevy - ist für mich auch eine etwas schwierige Angelegenheit. Aus irgendeinem Grund habe ich >20 Tonträger von seinen Bands, aber so richtig häufig läuft das bei mir nie. Meistens greife ich zu "Ocean Machine", zum Rest meist nur zur VÖ. Insgesamt bin ich hier schon beim Wölf, auch wenn ich es wohl nicht so schwarz-weiß sehen würde.

Viele Alben habe ich aber jetzt schon viele Jahre nicht mehr gehört, von daher müsste das mal getestet werden. Ich lege jetzt gleich mal die "SYL" auf. 'Relentless' habe ich als Hit gespeichert.

Hey guys, Devin here.

So after 8 years of touring with DTP, I've decided to take a break from this band and focus on a number of other projects I've been really wanting to do for some time now. The band have been there with me through thick and thin and we've shared some pretty great moments - I can’t say enough good things about them - And in the future, I'm sure we'll work again.

I have 4 new albums I am currently working on. I am currently in the finishing stages one of the grandest and most overwhelming projects that I have been fortunate to do. It's certainly my favourite DVD release of them all and is a powerful moment, if I can say so myself. Ocean Machine Live In Plovdiv (tentative name) Mixing the orchestras, choirs, the 'by-request' set and the full Ocean Machine album in that magnificent setting has been hugely rewarding. Seeing this spectacle come to life is a testament to this period of work and I can't wait for you to see and hear it.

Life is short and I have a lot I need to say in some new and different avenues. I will certainly continue to play live in several new ways (starting next year) and I'm excited about some collaborative things that have also come up as well.

I salute the band, the team, and the audience for allowing us to do what we have done and the patience to accommodate my persistent morphing. As someone who’s music is connected to his personal growth, I feel an obligation to follow this muse wherever it leads. To not do so would be in direct opposition to what it is I have fundamentally done for all these years.

Mal schaun was er da so auf uns zulaufen lässt. Gegen eine zweite Casualities Of Cool hab ich nix einzuwenden. Mag die ruhige Seite an ihm mittlerweile mehr als die krachige, die IMO seit der Epicloud nicht mehr wirklich gut ist.

Hier mal noch aus meinem VHS-Archiv 2 lustige Interviews mit Heavy Devy aus dem Jahr 1995, da war gerade die "Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing" erschienen. Liveauftritte von SYL gab es ja damals noch nicht, sondern dann erst 1997.

I am very proud of this release and it represents a culmination of many years of material. The concert actually is in two parts, with Ocean Machine being the second. It was a fantastic night and an unforgettable experience with the die-hards travelling from all around the world to be there with us.

Auch wenn das Schlagzeug defintiv danach noch mal neu eingespielt ist - oder getriggert ist. Selten so einen NICHT-Live-Sound gehört.
