Interview AMON AMARTH (Johan Hegg) 2007 - Life on the road & invading Ireland

About 25 years ago, we played a demo tape of a Swedish band called Amon Amarth in one of our very first shows. About ten years later, Amon Amarth gained a massive push in popularity after the release of "With Oden on our side". We caught up with Johan once more on their first ever date in Ireland to talk about life on the road and a particular song about the Vikings conquering the emerald isle. Unfortunately, only a couple of minutes of the full interview survived until today.

Interview SLOUGH FEG (Mike Scalzi) 2004 - We wanted to be rock stars

Ever since Twilight of the Idols we were addicted to The Lord Weird Slough Feg and their unique blend of epic and celtic-infused metal. Finally, we had the chance to hook up with balding head honcho Mike in the legendary Dublin Voodoo Lounge to squeeze some information for our listeners from him. From hair thinning problems across rock star aspirations towards their deep link to the European underground you'll get a some insight into the band and its origins.

Interview POVERTY'S NO CRIME (German) (Heiko Spaarmann) 2021 - Fernbeziehungen & Filmzitate

Mahr dazu in diesen 30 Minuten.

Interview BOLT THROWER Pt.1 (Barry) 1999 - Ultra in-depth interview Pt.1

BOLT THROWER are/were our favourite death metal band. Even before we started with the show 25 years ago we made sure to catch as many of their gigs as possible. So the traditional tour kick off in Enschede was used to kick off probably one of the most in-depth interviews we ever did. After a couple of warm up questions (and some audio trouble) we delve into the band and its activities like few others did before. So expect lots of trivia and personal retrospective opinions in here. Lean back and enjoy until we ran out of tape after 45 min. The second part of the interview, done the day after with Gavin Ward on the next day of the tour in our home town Osnabrück, will be uploaded in the near future.

Interview BOLT THROWER Pt.2 (Gavin) 1999 - Ultra in-depth interview Pt.2

Here comes part II:
BOLT THROWER are/were our favourite death metal band. Even before we started with the show 25 years ago we made sure to catch as many of their gigs as possible. So the traditional tour kick off in Enschede was used to kick off probably one of the most in-depth interviews we ever did. This is the 2nd part of the interview, continued after we ran out of tape during a chat with Barry a couple of days before. Expect lots of trivia and personal opinions in here.

Interview TWISTED TOWER DIRE (Marc & Scott) 2007 - Beer, vomit & love

TWISTED TOWER DIRE were over in Europe to play festival shows on the continent and to include a gig in Ireland as well. We ambushed them at the night of their gig in the legendary Voodoo Lounge to squeeze some info from Marc and Scott about "Netherworlds", which had just been released. We also touched on the history of the band and the key question of what metal really is. Unfortunately, only the short radio edit of the interview has survived until today.

Interview SEPULTURA (Andreas Kisser) 2001 - Starting from scratch

SEPULTURA's line up was shaken up not too long before this interview, with the band losing their frontman and management. We dug into the band chemistry with Andreas during their 2001 headliner tour and also got answers on a couple of fanboy questions.

Interview EREMIT (German) (Mo Fabian) 2021 - Mythologie, Monstren & Meer

Eremit lassen wieder einmal die Erde beben und setzen damit ihren dritten Tusunami "Bearer of many Names" in Gang.

Interview ENSLAVED (Grutle & Ivar) 2006 - Ruun for your life

Ruun is probably one of the best albums Enslaved ever recorded. Loved by the press, pressure keeps increasing on the band to deliver again and again. So what was to be expected of the very first show in support of Ruun, the start of their European tour and their very first time ever playing Ireland? A couple of minutes survived from a longer chat with Grutle and Ivar after their show in Dublin.

Interview CANNIBAL CORPSE (George Fisher) 2000 - Bloodthirsty in Germany
George kindly took the time for a longer chat at WFF open air 2000 to discuss the band's sound, producers and his personal musical history. And what about that legendary interview in Grimoire of Exalted Deeds? Did he really sing "Mary had a little lamb" on stage?

Interview CASTIGATE (German) (Arnd & Thorsten) 1999 - Jesus, Satan & Harald Juhnke
Kein Entkommen für Arnd und Thorsten im Jahre 1999. Nachdem uns das "Evocate the dark" Demo die Hosen runtergezogen hatte, stand 1999 das Debut "Bring me the head of Jesus Christ" in den Regalen.

Interview STRAPPING YOUNG LAD (Devin Townsend) 2005 - Hyperactivity & anxiety

Devin was on a promo tour when we arranged for a meet up in the Century Media headquarters in Dortmund. We discussed Devin's approach to music and how his hyperactivity and anxiety channels into (maybe too much?) music.
This edited version of the interview was aired on OS Radio 104.8 FM (osradio.de), including a number of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD songs.

Interview TWISTED ROSE (German) (Mace) 2021 - Volle Pulle durchstarten!

Interview OBITUARY (Donald Tardy) 2004 - Going to extremes

Back then in Dublin... Obituary crawled back out of the grave in 2004 and embarked on a European "re-union" tour after an abesence of 7-8 years. Many shows were sold out and they met a hungry audience going nuts every night. We met an enthusiastic Don Tardy that happily answered also inquisitive questions about past tensions in the band.

Interview THE CROWN (Marco Tervonen) 1999 - The Crown is here! First proper tour!

Being huge fans of The Crown (Crown of Thorns) since the release of the debut album, we couldn't resist to squeeze in a couple of minutes with Marco when they finally came to Germany on their first proper tour (supporting Morbid Angel). The year was 1999, we were awaiting the Revolution 666, asked our nerdy fanboy questions and left the guys alone to prepare for the stage. Great little document of past times when listening back to this today.

Interview LIMBONIC ART (Morfeus) 1999 - Serious Black Metal art

In 1996, we received mail from Samoth of Emperor, who was starting to get serious with his label Nocturnal Art Production. In the envelope we found the debut of Limbonic Art (Moon in the Scorpio), which went on to cause a considerable stir in the underground. Supporting Morbid Angel and Emperor in 1999, we had the chance to meet for the first time with Morfeus (Krister Dreyer) to conduct a detailed interview on the bands background and aims, including also his view on Satanism.

Interview CELTIC LEGACY (Mark & Slim) 2004 - The Irish scene & Phil Lynott

Very few Irish bands chose to play heavy metal in its more traditional variety. Celtic Legacy's Resurrection album, however, was a milestone in that genre for us. So why not have a chat with co-founder Slim and singer Mark at the legendary Day of Darkness festival back in 2004. Only a couple of minutes from a longer conversation have survived on our hard drive, but the two lads give some insight into the background of the band, its link to Germany, their view on the Irish scene and their relation to the Phil Lynott trust.

Interview CHRIS CAFFERY/SAVATAGE 2004 - Chris rocks, Savatage blocks

Chris Caffery was over in Wacken to play a gig to promote his first solo album. At the time Savatage was already in a longer hiatus, so obviously we used the little time we had to poke him a little bit about the current status and future of Savatage. Likewise, we discussed the freedom that recording music as a solo artist brings with it. Here, we uploaded the snippets of the conversation that ultimately made it on air.
