Boah, anscheinend ein Jahresend-Doom-Metal-Knaller aus Brasilien. Bleeding Black kommt am Freitag raus, die Vorabsongs sind <3 Old School Doom mit bassig-rhytmischen Gitarren-Wellen, einem wumernden Basspuls, groovenden Schlagzeug und einer charismatischen und bluesigen Doomstimme. Wobei die gerne noch etwas mehr Volumen haben könnte - was nicht bedeuten soll, dass sie schlecht sei. Hier ist eine gelungene Verneigung vor Saint Vitus, Pentagram und Co. aus Brasilien die dem ganzen durchaus moderne/neue Facetten hinzufügen/abgewinnen kann.

Formed in 2017 by vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride/Vallenfyre/Solstice) GODTHRYMM sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots. Further adding to the GODTHRYMM pedigree of doom, joining Glencross is ex-My Dying Bride/Anathema drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels who, after some slight lineup refining (following the band’s “A Grand Reclamation” debut EP), became the core of GODTHRYMM with Glengross as the two would end up recording the colossal GODTHRYMM debut album “Reflections” and would eventually add bassist Bob Crolla following the recording of “Reflections” making GODTHRYMM a true power trio of doom.

With their debut album “Reflections”, GODTHRYMM have unleashed a colossal slab of heavy, mournful, yet pounding traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records. A massive step up from the debut EP, “Reflections” is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM further into the realm of doom into more darker, melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the GODTHRYMM rhythm section that massive glorious tone, “Reflections” is a testament to the glory days of UK doom while making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.

Kurze Durchsage: Thrice As Strong von Ogre ist (mal wieder) grandios ausgefallen. Proto-Doom for Proto-People. Ich habe wie üblich kaum einen Schimmer, worum es in den Songs eigentlich geht. Aber bei einem Track wie z.B. "Cyber-Czar" reicht alleine schon der Titel, um mich glücklich zu machen. Jetzt bitte noch hierzulande auftreten. Und Shirts mitbringen.

Absolut! Eine geniale Truppe, die leider immer noch ziemlich unbeachtet ist. Mit dem neuen Album haben sie mich wieder wunschlos glücklich gemacht.

DARK MATTERs neues Album "The Ghosts of Dunwich" wurde gestern veröffentlicht. Dave aus England und Stefan aus Deutschland machen wieder kauzigen Sabbathian old school proggy Doom, ohne sich um irgendwelche Trends zu scheren. Herrlich.

[Fallen Idol 666]

interessante Band aus Belgien, grade auf der Cruz del Sur Page entdeckt: King Heavy - Guardian Demons. Sind aus Belgien und spielen ne schön dunkle Variante, aufgelockert durch Midtempo-Parts. Das 2. Album hier ist von 2018 und läuft mir ziemlich gut rein, schön heavy und dark vibe alles.
