Heute kam die Vinyl endlich an . Klingt richtig fett auf Platte ! ....bei dem Ausklapppimmel im Gatefold musste ich allerdings schon ein wenig kichern

Schneller als (zumindest von mir) erwartet geht's hier offenbar schon weiter. The Church Within vermeldet jedenfalls auf Facebook:

"And again, Lord Vicar will bring Doom over the Land. Germany/Europe. Watch out for this. . . come and celebrate the new album with us. will be out by end of April. . .crusade"

Neues Album und 'ne Tour sind in jedem Fall ein Grund zur Freude. Bleibe trotzdem gespannt, ob's wieder diverse Verzögerungen gibt, bzw. ob die CD-Version dieses mal sogar einzelne Tracks für jeden Song spendiert bekommt...

In der 2. Auflage wurde das ja immerhin korrigiert - trotzdem war das eine sehr unerfreuliche Sache für die Käufer

Ach, tatsächlich? Wusste nicht mal, dass es eine zweite Auflage gab, aber das spricht dann ja immerhin dafür, dass sich das Album einigermaßen verkauft hat.

Ich kann die Aufregung über das Nichtvorhandensein einzelner Tracks überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Das Album hat keine nennenswerten Ausfälle und in unserer schnelllebigen Zeit kann es doch gar nicht hoch genug bewertet werden, wenn man sich mal schlappe 42 Minuten lang gänzlich einer Sache widmen muss. Habe mir trotzdem auch das Vinyl geholt zwecks Legitimation, zwischendurch zum Kühlschrank gehen zu dürfen.

Ich kann die Aufregung über das Nichtvorhandensein einzelner Tracks überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Das Album hat keine nennenswerten Ausfälle und in unserer schnelllebigen Zeit kann es doch gar nicht hoch genug bewertet werden, wenn man sich mal schlappe 42 Minuten lang gänzlich einer Sache widmen muss. Habe mir trotzdem auch das Vinyl geholt zwecks Legitimation, zwischendurch zum Kühlschrank gehen zu dürfen.

Ich höre Alben in der Regel vollständig durch. Für kurze Pausen nutze ich bei Vinyl den Seitenwechsel und bei CD gibt es ja auch die Pause-Taste.

Es juckt mich nur alle Jubeljahre mal, gezielt einzelne Songs rauszupicken. Dafür habe ich ansonsten Mixtapes. Da ist es bei der betreffenden CD allerdings schon schwieriger, einen Song auszuwählen, wenn es nicht gerade der Opener ist.

Ich muss allerdings dazu sagen, dass ich die 'Gates of Flesh' noch gar nicht habe. Die hatte ich damals auf die Liste gesetzt und sie war dann irgendwie rausgefallen. Es wäre aber eh Vinyl geworden und das wird es auch nachträglich noch werden.

Privat juckt es mich auch nicht so sehr. Als ich beim Doom Special aufgelegt habe war es dann schon ärgerlich den Song von YouTube in entsprechend schlechter Quali laufen zu lassen, weil auf der CD eben nur der" Longtrack" war. Hab mir dann noch den Download geholt. Das ist dann blöd, wenn man gezwungen ist, zweimal zu bezahlen. Ok, man könnte die CD rippen und schneiden, aber auch nervig.

The Black Powder is the fourth album from Lord Vicar. It was, like the previous album Gates of Flesh, recorded by audio wizard Joona Lukala at Noise for Fiction studio in Turku, Finland. All studio work took place in February and March of 2019. The studio has the benefit of a huge live room which gave the band the opportunity to capture a sound that breathes with the ambience of the space, but maintains the sonic weight for which they are rightly known.

This album is a return to longer form, and even more progressive song structures, but the punchier material is also provided with merciless precision, as well as soothing acoustic moments. The songwriting duties are shared by Kimi and Gareth, also Chritus providing lyrical output.

The album contains a loose lyrical concept relating to mankind’s endless lack of reason and weakness of stability, resulting to violence, war, manipulation of children, and numbing our minds in order to shut out the horror that is the reality we live in. We blow the black lines to feel good. This takes place generation after generation, in an endless cycle of standing and falling. Musically and lyrically the album covers a wide spectrum of textures from the all out punky attack of ’The Temple in the Bedrock’, fragile beauty of ‘Nightmare’, to the oppressive menace of the more intense moments of ‘Sulphur, Charcoal and Saltpetre’. This album is a grower, meant to be listened repeatedly, full of subtle details that reveal themselves with each subsequent listen.

’But children of that place remain with us
They illustrate the burden of our lies
And make us feel the hell of all those memories
Buried in the grave of the fireflies’
