WEAK ASIDE - Old School Midtempo-DM at its best

Gute Scheibe.
Auch, wenn ich die euphorischen Reaktionen für übertrieben halte. Um tatsächlich in den Death Metal-Olymp aufzusteigen, fehlt den Jungs "das Besondere", "das Einzigartige", was Bands wie COD oder Sulphur Aeon so wertvoll macht.
Trotzdem macht die LP Spaß. Und ich bin mir sicher, dass diese Mucke live noch besser funktioniert.
 
Die Scheibe ist ganz gut. Auf Dauer funktioniert sie für mich aber nicht, da die Jungs nach hinten heraus doch etwas nachlassen. Ab Song Nummer 5 oder so lässt meine Aufmerksamkeit doch schnell nach. Als EP wäre das Ding wahrscheinlich eine Bombe. Vielleicht irgendwann mal günstig oder als Download.

Sehe ich ähnlich. Die 9,5 Punkte von Albecht im letzten Heft halte ich auch für zu hoch. Album gefällt mir dennoch total gut - hätte ne 8 - 8,5 gegeben. Live wurde ich auch überzeugt. Machen Spaß die Kerle :)
 
WEAK ASIDE sind jetzt neu im Billing für's Protzen Open Air, nachdem CHAPEL OF DISEASE ihre Show leider absagen mussten.

@Crystal Mountain : Ich glaube die Band hat keine Ambitionen ultra eigenständig zu klingen wie die genannten Bands. Die wollen einfach einfach nur Death Metal spielen.
 
@Reek-oh: Das ist mir natürlich bewusst, war auch nicht mein Punkt.
Auch Bands, die traditionellen Death Metal spielen, konnen das "Besondere" haben. Seien die Riffs, die Songs, die Vocals, das (visuelle) Konzept oder die Schlagzeugarbeit. Die beiden von mir genannten Gruppen haben für mich eben dieses "Besondere", auch wenn ihr Death Metal selbstredend eine andere Ausrichtung wie Weak Aside aufweist.
Für mich sind Weak Aside das Schalke 04 der deutschen Szene. Ganz gut und vorne mit dabei. Aber nicht in der Lage, gegen die Platzhirsche anzustinken (so geht mir es im Übrigen auch mit den allseits beliebten Deserted Fear!).
 
Vielleicht kann Leimy als Threadersteller den Titel updaten, denn et jibt wat Neuet.

After 3 years of abstinence and a change on the guitar, WEAK ASIDE is back with album number 3 which is entitled 'Forward Into Darkness'. The album name says it all, the German Death Metal flagship presents 10 crushing and explosive battle hymns that leaves the listener curdling the blood.
