INFERNAL MAJESTY 1998
Dieses Jahr auf dem PSOA

For us mere Europeans, INFERNAL MAJESTY came back from the dead in 1997 and 1998, their first ever trips to the old continent. We met Chay in 1997 and subsequently arranged for an interview during the 1998 tour. Chay provides a rundown of the band activities, answers a couple of nerdy fanboy questions and also comments on the rumors on their violent interim vocalist Vince (he passed away a couple of years after this interview from a drug overdose).

AHAB 2020

MIRROR OF DECEPTION - 3 Dekaden Doom

Seit nunmehr 30 Jahren stehen Mirror of Deception für deutschen Doom Metal.

MORBID ANGEL 1998

Summon the ancient ones with us! Touring "Formulas fatal to the flesh", Trey (Morbid Angel) couldn't escape our questions in 1998. While he was not so much interested in giving detailed answers to some of the historic aspects we were interested in, he laid out the concept for his spiritual view of the world. Transcend the mundane to learn about the living continuum.

PUNGENT STENCH 2020

ROTTEN SOUND 2006

At the time of this upload, ROTTEN SOUND are touring Europe with Napalm Death and Misery Index. This short interview was done during a chance encounter at Party San Open Air in 2006, their first appearance at this festival. This year, in 2020, they will greet their audience at Party San for the third time. Kai and Toni are no longer in the band, but Kai is still active these days, playing drums in Wintersun and, since last year, in Nightwish. Who would have thought that? But now, let's hear about grind and brutality.

REBAELLIUN 2000 - R.I.P. Fabiano Penna

Rebaelliun caused quite a stir in the scene with their ferocious and menacing blend of death metal. Not only the MiniCD but also the debut full length immediately left a mark on many of us. This interview dates back to their tour with Vader in 2000 and showcases a band that was willing to risk everything. We had an extensive chat not only about music but also about life in Brazil, the importance of culture and the power of organized religion. Unfortunately, the band broke up in 2002, but re-united in 2015. On Feb. 27th 2018, following a trip to Europe, Fabiano Penna passed away under dramatic circumstances from an infection. We learned to know him as a humble and passionate person. Enjoy listening to him and Ronaldo in this interview.
PS: The band just recently signed to Agonia Records

MISERY INDEX - 2020

Close to the end of the "Campaign for musical destruction" tour, headlined by Napalm Death, we sat down with Jason Netherton of Misery Index to discuss death metal, how it evolved and is seen within a rapidly changing society. Obviously, we also ended up touching on politics, writing lyrics and life on the road. We were lucky enough to get this recorded, since soon after the Corona crisis hit, and that was the end for face to face interviews for some time.

NAGLFAR 1998

Naglfar blew us away with their Stellae trajectio demo tape in 1994. It took until 1998 to meet in person on their first tour. We sat down in the tour bus for a brief chat, discussing the beginnings of the bands, demo recordings, album sales, lyrical content as well as a bit of trivia for the nerds among us. Good to see that they are still going. A new album will be out soon via Century Media Records.

SABIRE 2020

Leider musste die Tour ja abgebrochen werden...

For those that missed the show last night. Out of nowhere they came, ready to unleash Acid Metal. Scarlett, the head and mastermind behind Sabïre, takes us on a short ride through the origins and the future of the band. Under pressure by stage prep time we only had a couple of minutes for what is a rather unusual interview, with Scarlett undressing, redressing and putting on make up for the show while synchronously doing this interview. We need more time next time around. At least this should be enough to wet your appetite for the upcoming album and to get hold of "Gates ajar" if you do not own it yet.

GAMMA RAY 2002

AMON AMARTH 1998

Unearthed Amon Amarth interview from their very first tour (1998).
"Arrival of the fimbul winter" hit our tape decks at a time when death metal was largely declining. It took a mini CD on Pulverised Records and the debut on Metal Blade Records records until Amon Amarth hit the road to play to their German fans for the first time. We met up in Essen to have a chat about the early demo days, the influence of mythology and the Viking era on the songs, as well as escapades on the road.

SQUEALER 2000

BLOODBATH/EDGE OF SANITY 2005

Using a chance encounter at W.O.A. 2005, we had a chat with Dan Swanö about his activities with Bloodbath, his love for simple drumming and vocal production tricks. We also touched on the times things got shaky with Edge of Sanity, including bad blood and payback, and his perspective on musical self achievement. Check it out also if you are interested in why he closed Unisound Studio and why MANOWAR aren't metal.

NEGURA BUNGET 2007 - Elevation of the human spirit

Evolving from the black metal underground into their own distinctive style, NEGURA BUNGET became Romanias most important metal band. The main duo behind NEGURA BUNGET (Negru, born Gabriel Mafa, an outstanding percussionist, and Hupogrammus, born Edmond Karban, on guitars and vocals) understood to blend metal, mysticism and spirituality, and link these to the forces of nature in their own unique way. Especially N Crugu Bradului and Om became landmark albums that came close to perfection. In 2007, the band embarked on an extensive European tour to impress their audiences with spectacular, immersive and hypnotizing live shows. We had the chance to catch up with Negru on short notice in Dublin to conduct this interview. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2017 from a heart attack. He leaves behind an impressive legacy.

TANKARD 2001 - Gerre heiratet Franks Frau

MAEL MORDHA 2006

We caught up with Dave Murphy, bass lord of Gaelic Doom Metal inventors Mael Mordha, in 2006 to introduce their band to our listeners. We touch on the band history, lyrical content of the songs and what set Irish bands apart from their scandinavian counterparts that try to sail similar waters. And then there was this legendary TV experience... Unfortunately, the band is no more. But check out some of the links in the video description to see what else the former members have to offer these days as part of Death The Leveller and Uaigneas.

BROCAS HELM 2005

Formed in the early 80s, Brocas Helm remained deep in the epic metal underground to this day, despite recording some phenomenal material. They released their latest album in 2004 (Defender of the Crown), 16 years after its predecessor "Black Death". The year 2005 lead them to Europe, playing a couple of shows across the continent, including the Voodoo Lounge in Dublin. We took some of their time to hang out in the infamous backyard beer garden and had a quick chat. If you don't know the band yet, check out their records. We've waited another 16 years for new material now, so let's see what the future holds.
