Richtig gutes Album geworden. Spannender, unkonventioneller Songaufbau mit gelungenen Stil- und Tempowechseln, wobei mir ja dann die teils fast schon rockigen, atmosphärischeren Riffs und die morbiden Melodien fast noch mehr zusagen, als wenn aus allen Rohren gefeuert wird, was aber auch fesch gemacht ist. Hervorzuheben ist auch der tolle sound und Darragh macht echt nen vokalen Superjob. Highlightverdächtig
 
Today we proudly announce the 23rd of february 2024 as international release date for VIRCOLAC´s new full length album.

With their second album `Veneration´, VIRCOLAC are balancing on a razor's edge... confidently and with combat boots... creating their best release to date.
The album encompasses the whole world of Death Metal, but it also adds another world, a much darker one. The Wolves have managed to create an album full of anger and tragedy. An album full of doom and conviction and they spit it out into a world that is obviously choking on generic, soulless and technically „perfect“ standard „Death Metal“ releases.
You can hardly write and play Death Metal in a more personal and emotional way. Although the album does not reveal it's entirety on first contact, it will be generous to those who fully engage in it. `Veneration´ meanders between choleric outbursts and epic arrangements with an eerie, deeply funereal atmosphere that apparently only Irish bands are capable of writing.
`Veneration´ is bloody, it is epic and it is timeless. It combines tradition and Zeitgeist and consciously rejects everything that is polished, fashionable or blatant. The result: VIRCOLAC´s black is darker and their fire is brighter. And this is what you can feel when it slowly creeps under your skin.
The album will appear on good old Compact Disc (Digipak), 12“ vinyl LP and all the digital formats. Our comrades of Dark Descent Records will conquer the new world, SVR infects the old world. More infos coming soon, be prepared.

Da bin ich gespannt wie Bolle.
Cruciamentum zum Jahresende, Vircolac läuten 2024 ein... somit fehlen jetzt nur noch Dead Congregation und ich bin glücklich.

Passenderweise habe ich mir alle Veröffentlichungen der Iren am Donnerstag nach der Arbeit ib Ruhe angehört und zack!, am Abend kam dann die Nachricht.
 
Immer noch kein Vorabsong weit und breit. Und nur noch etwas über einen Monat hin. I need.

Geht mir ähnlich. Gefällt mir bis auf das Intro gut, aber so richtig springt der Funke noch nicht über. Na mal sehen. Richtig schick sieht die Aufmachung der Platte aus!
 
Ich finde alles gut. Auch das Intro (welches man auch als Song in einem anderen Stil bezeichnen könnte ;))
 
Wirklich ganz fantastische Scheibe.
Der erste Song funktioniert prächtig als Stimmungsöffner und schließt die Klammer logisch im letzten Stück.
Dann diese abwechslungsreiche Mischung aus kurzen, fast schon modern anmutenden Bangern und zähflüssigem Todesstahl.Einfach geil!
Gefällt mir jetzt schon besser, als das Erstlingswerk.
 
Der Opener ( ein richtiges Intro ist es meiner Meinung nach nicht) ist der Hammer mit einem tollen Übergang zu Veneration und wie @Arntor schreibt als Klammer mit dem Schlußstück. Schönes Dingens.
 
Nach zweimaligen Hören bin ich immer noch weit davon entfernt das aktuelle Album gut zu finden. Am besten gefällt mir tatsächlich der Frauengesang, der Rest plätschert eher unspektakulär an mir vorbei und das erschreckt mich gerade am meisten. Das Debüt hat sofort gezündet, das aktuelle Album hingegen will ich mir gerade noch nicht einmal ein weiteres Mal anhören. Vielleicht reden wir in einem Jahr noch einmal darüber.

Mir geht es leider ähnlich. So richtig rocken will das in meinen Ohren noch nicht. Wobei das alles natürlich weit entfernt von schlecht ist... Mir fehlen bislang aber die einprägsamen Riffs und auch etwas die Abwechslung im Geschwindigkeitsmanagment. But time will tell.

Oh ja! Ein, nun ja, Höhepunkt des Albums, das sich mir bisher etwas verschlossen hatte, nun aber durchschlägt. Ganz tolles Album mit teilweise etwas punklastigen Riffs und wunderbar scheppernden Gitarren und giftigem Gekeife. Mit dem ersten Song kann ich weiterhin nicht so viel anfangen, dennoch Respekt vor der Band, dass sie einen für dieses Genre so atypischen Song gleich nach vorn stellt. Diese Eigensinnigkeit gefällt mir. Ein Album, das ich so nicht erwartet habe.
