Till Deaf Do Us Part

++++ (SAD) ANNOUNCEMENT ++++
Today we have to announce what we’ve known since early April and what some of you have already heard over the last few weeks – at the end of this year, our drummer Jonny and our singer Klay will leave the band.
First things first: There is no bad blood between anyone. We all remain close friends, there were no arguments or drama whatsoever. The plain reason for them leaving is what so many bands struggle with nowadays – they can no longer juggle personal life, jobs and band obligations.
The situation with Jonny and Klay has always been clear. Jonny tried to make two bands at the same time work, but there’s just no way to serve the needs of both bands with the dedication it would require (without burning out within a matter of months). Klay lives about 500 kilometres away from us, has several jobs, a daughter and fewer time to dedicate to the band than he would like and need. We always knew this and therefore never took him being there for granted in the first place. There is full understanding from our side for both of them and we are all on good terms with each other.
Of course, the question on our minds was, if and how we should continue without them. After an initial reaction of “Well, that’s it then” we’ve come to the conclusion that we want to try to continue Acid Blade. However, we’ve promised to ourselves that we won’t continue, if we can’t hold up the standard that we’ve set until now – so at this point, all we can say is that after the remaining shows of this year - with our hometown show at the Chemiefabrik on 30th October being the final one - we will at least take a prolonged hiatus to find the right replacements.
So, this is your chance to join us! What we expect, if you want to become part of the band:
• Our new drummer must be based in or around Dresden, as we rehearse once a week, sometimes more. Our new singer doesn’t always have to be there, but has to be well-prepared when he is – therefore we don’t mind if you come from Germany, Poland, Czech Republic or Austria as long as you have the dedication and ability to be there when you need to be.
• You need to be ready to dedicate the necessary time to writing, rehearsing, recording & playing live. We have about two dozen more songs finished that are waiting to come to life. We have a new rehearsal room, a label and want to continue to play 12-20 shows per year.
• You must possess good technical abilities and creativity to make the already existing and new songs your own. We don’t want anything less than what Jonny and Klay were able to bring to the table. As a front man, you also need to have the necessary charisma and stage presence to carry the band through a show.
• You must be visually fitting to the rest of the band.
• Just don’t be an asshole or too much of a diva. We don’t have the nerves for that.
If this is you, please send a message to acidblade.rock@gmail.com
To end on a positive: Since there’s no time to lose now, our show at objekt klein a in Dresden next month will be the first to feature all songs from our already-recorded and upcoming EP. There are quite a few announcements still coming up and we hope to see as many of you as possible at these next few shows! We’re also still looking for a handful of gigs between 22nd and 29th October, so please contact us, if you’re in or around Germany and interested in having us (and Armory (OFFICIAL)).
