Have just toasted Brother Ade at a distance with a Slinky Toes' Monster Margarita. There are no current plans for Adrian to come out with the current formation; but in Crimson's strange history there is a tendency for things to come around. So, Adrian has rejoined the larger family - hooray! - and doors to the future are open. So, no plans, but who knows what the future holds?

Right now, I'm looking forward to Gizmodrome and getting a few more guitar lessons...

Earthbound (cd/dvd pre-order)

The twelfth release in the King Crimson 40th Anniversary series, Earthbound was originally issued in 1972 and marked the final statement by the band's Islands-era incarnation.

The CD features an expanded 12 track version of the original 5 track album. The DVD contains the 12 track expanded album in 24/96 hi-res stereo audio, the Summit Studios performance in a 2017 stereo mix and in quadraphonic (this is the only surviving multi-track performance from the 1972 tour), the album length Schizoid Men sequence of edits of 21st Century Schizoid Men taken from the Ladies of The Road live album, and a transfer of the original vinyl album.

Presented in a double digipak in a slipcase with Sid Smith sleeve notes, rare photos and archive material. Please note, Earthbound can also be found on the Sailor’s Tales box set.

Earthbound was one of the earliest (if not the first) “official bootleg” released by a major rock band, consisting of a series of deliberately lo-fi live recordings of King Crimson’s Islands ear line-up on tour in the USA.

When issued, because of its mid-price it was excluded from the main album charts in the UK but topped the mid-price charts rubbing shoulders with Jim Reeves & Mantovani.

Atlantic in the USA didn’t even bother to release it. By then, the band had broken up & the label had already been alerted to the likelihood of a new King Crimson Line-up promised for later in the year.

Like the later live album, USA, Earthbound remained unavailable in the early CD era, with both finally being released in 2002 on CD. Ironically this non-availability only served to enhance interest in the album & DGM’s own live releases made fans aware that there was a larger story to be told of this line-up’s history.

When Robert Fripp was asked to guest on the second Grinderman project, Nick Cave noted: “I wanted to work with Robert Fripp because he has done some of the most uniquely unsettling guitar work I have ever heard along with some of the most delicate and finessed” explained Cave. “I grew up listening to a lot of the King Crimson stuff. The vinyl copy of the phenomenal live album Earthbound, is one of my most treasured possessions.”

Die 40th Ann. Editionen? CD+DVD? Ja. Ausnahmslos. Alle. NIE klangen die Alben besser und Originalmixe sind immer noch auf den DVDs enthalten, oftmals noch andere Mixe (alternative und auch die 30th Ann. Remasters) und manche ganze Alben in alternativen Aufnahmen, ein paar der Alben sind auch extended (u.a. Three Of A Perfect Pair ist gut 20 min länger (und trotzdem nochmal anders als die schon längere 30th Ann. Version)), mit längeren Versionen vormals editierter Tracks ("Requiem" auf Beat ist dreimal so lange wie die ursprünglich veröffenlichte Version), historische Videoaufnahmen (u.a. den ganzen Auftritt im frz. TV mit meinen Lieblingsversionen von "Starless" und "The Night Watch"), etc., und diese Editionen enthalten die wesentlichen Bestandteile der Boxsets (minus den Livekram halt).

Ich auch. War gerüchteweise ja auch ein Testlauf. Und man beachte: "A King Crimson ProjeKct". Keines der ProjeKcts wurde davor je so direkt betitelt. Wundervolles Album auch!

Ach, und wenn ich Fripps "Exposure" höre (saugeiles Album und seiner Zeit voraus!), dann wünschte ich, Fripp hätte mal Peter Hammill in die Band geholt...

Sie haben ja so ein paar Mal zusammen gearbeitet.

Hammill ist einer meiner Lieblingssänger der 70er, ich liebe VDGG für alle ihre frühen Werke (mit Jaxon). Hammill Solo genauso, auch wenn ich mir noch da einiges zulegen muss.
Fripp ist Fripp, niemand ist wie Fripp, es wird nie einen vergleichbaren geben. Virtuos, Querdenker, Perfektionist, ist alles schwer untertrieben... KC, eine Macht, Musik für die Ewigkeit und mehr.

'Exposure' steht bei mir auch noch auf der Liste, und noch so viel mehr...

Im aktuellen Mint ist ein Bericht über die Hansa Studios in Berlin, da wird auch beschrieben, wie Fripp das Gitarrensolo für "Heroes" einspielte. Da hatte ich Tränen in den Augen. Nicht wegen Bowie, sondern wie unfassbar man für die Musik leben kann (Fripp).

Habe mir die mp3 von Live In Chicago geholt(https://www.dgmlive.com/news/Live In Chicago Download), weil ich nimmer warten konnte. Fallen Angel ist mal der schiere Wahn in dieser Version. Auch sonst mal wieder ein phänomenales Konzert in einem hammer Soundgewand.

Okay, die käme dann auch als eheste als nächste Live-Veröffentlichung, die ich mir vielleicht zulegen werde, in Frage (evtl. auch noch "Epitaph", wenn ich die einigermaßen günstig finde und wieder Geld über hab). Aber erstmal freue ich mich jetzt auf "Radical Action", die müsste heute oder bis zum Wochenende hier eintreffen.
